Based on data evaluation of the current state and long-term monitoring of the function ability of the playing surface at the AC Sparta Prague stadium a decision was taken by the management of the football club to execute a complete change of the natural turf and improve the composition of the vegetational construction layers which due to their higher thickness has negatively influenced the required parameters for water permeability of the above mentioned construction.
Execution of this highly time demanding reconstruction, when the maximum given time frame was 28 days, has been delegated to our company.
The complete project was dividend to several phases:
• Cutting-off the existing turf and a part of the vegetational layer into the depth of 11cm
• Disposal and storage of this cubic yardage of soil
• Re-shaping of the basic plain with a laser controlled machinery
• Delivery and subsequent thorough embedding of the 4cm deep layer of quartz sand into the vegetational layer with a depth cutter
• Continuous leveling and compacting of the newly created substrate
• In-depth release and bonding of all construction layers with a Verti-drain machine
• Replacement and adjustment of all 35 sprinklers from the automatic irrigation system
• Delivery and installation of a new 2,7cm thick pre-grown grass sods of domestic origin
Complete reconstruction was successfully finished and the playing surface was handed over to the club ahead of the requested date. The high duality of the grass, all construction layers and of all works was proven during the autumn part of the league matches in the 2010-2011 seasons. Photos can be found here.
